Gold Sheen Obsidian Kwan Yin on Moon Carving
Kwan Yin, or Guan Yin, is a bodhisattva, known for providing compassion for humanity. Legend says she foregone nirvana and vowed to help humanity, and is sometimes described as the Mother of Compassion or She Who Hears All Cries. Many people bring their worries, concerns and fears to Kwan Yin to transmute. This carving depicts a version of Kwan Yin seated on a crescent moon in what is called Royal Pose. It measures about 3 3/16" x 2 13/16" x 7/16" and weighs about 12.72 oz. There is a small area on the crescent moon & her halo area that is uneven.
